On this week’s episode of State of Mind, host Maurice Benard (Sonny, General Hospital) was joined by Courtney Hope.
You may know Hope best as Sally Spectra on The Bold and The Beautiful and The Young and The Restless, but she’s also a dancer, gymnast, a fitness enthusiast and she’s engaged to Benard’s good friend and tv son, Chad Duell (Michael, GH).
Courtney opens up about dealing with anxiety, battling and overcoming an eating disorder, the importance of therapy and Breaking the Chains Foundation, where she’s on the board. Breaking the Chains is a unified global non-profit foundation using art as the process to unmask the stigma of individuals affected by eating disorders & negative body image. She also talked about a real-life family tragedy regarding her deceased brother, “My brother fell off a cliff when he was probably around 25, 26. He was stargazing and he fell and broke every bone in his body, and he had addiction problems when he was younger, so when he had this accident they put him on painkillers. And so he got addicted to painkillers and then just eventually—they don’t know if it was that or he relapsed with something else, but they found him, and he was 29. And it was really hard for our family.“
